Among my favorite projects to work on are videos that need to explain difficult topics like scientific research, a fundraising campaign, or even the significant work of a famous artist. Motion graphics can be such a versatile medium to use to demonstrate how things function, show what people have done and illustrate how we want people to behave.
The Trippy History of Magic Mushrooms
Motion Graphics, Creative/Art Direction, Sound Design, Voice Talent
For Ohio State's research aggregate website, Insights, I created this motion graphic to illustrate how mushrooms affect a persons brain to cause a "trippy" reaction. Working with a staff writer, I put together a storyboard to map out the visuals for the animation. In the next step, a "scratch track" and "animatic" was created to further demonstrate how the visuals and script would work in a linear timeline. Once the script and storyboard are approved, the work on the illustrations and animations begin, resulting in a final content piece.
